User Interface design

Applications and web sites only do their jobs when they are both easy and intuitive to the user. Good user interface design is a key to that success. The following are some examples of a variety of projects I was tasked to develop, sometimes from scratch.

VMware Brand Central Portal

Being the large company it is, VMware uses many agencies and contractors to build out everything from web sites to advertising content. We needed a central repository of guidelines, assets and tools for anyone either within or outside the company to use as a way to guarantee brand consistency. The result was a new web site called Brand Central. Users register, recieve a brand training course and are given limited or full access to the assets within. A search tool, light box and built-in brand tools was eventually produced.

VMware Corporate web site

What started with broad strokes and mood boards eventually became the VMware web site. Modules, navigation, menu designs, and flexible layouts were all worked out for a easier to user overall experience.

Data center location data

This page was developed out of a need for our customers to understand which data centers provided which product by geo location.

Partner Central Portal

The Partner Central team requested their old site, which was disjointed and inconsistent be redesigned to be more simplified and easier to use. There were some limitations with what could be done due to the platform being used at the time but the end result was something that partners found to be a far better experience.

Customer Stories filtering tool

We needed a way to more easily sort the thousands of VMware customer stories. The result was a filtering tool that allowed users to sort customers by 6 different primary filters with further refinements so that specific results could be found quickly.

Older work

The following are some examples of some legacy work. Included are examples from two starups: One being Paglo, a startup I worked for back in 2009 that was a search engine for IT data, the other for a company called Swivel which showed analytics for current trends.
